News in the Pews

The works on the roofs of the church hall and rectory are well underway. It is a complicated job with many different pitches and valleys. People passing by have commented on the excellent job that our firm of roofers are doing. When the hall ceiling is lowered and new lights installed, we will have one of the most advanced and net zero compliant church plants in the entire Scottish Province. Our thanks to Danny Craig, the Property Team, Net Zero Sub Committee and Vestry for all their hard work.

It was a pleasure to have +Nick with us at the beginning of July to confirm Luke Patrick and Hadi Ghadrian and to receive Ruth Coates and Sheila McDonald. We wish them every blessing as they set out on this new stage of their Christian pilgrimage and +Nick as he rises to the challenge of leading our Diocese into the future.

Within the timeframe of this magazine, our Curate Jackie will complete her three year curacy and have her final appraisal meeting with the Bishop. It is still to be decided where Jackie will serve after her curacy, but we hope that it will be with us at Christ Church so that she can continue with the community projects she has put in place. At some point there will be a special Sung Eucharist for her licensing as an “Associate Vocational Deacon”. Keep your eyes on the notices for the date of that service.

Extracts from the registers:

Christian Burial – Doreen Dixon (March), Liz Fotheringham (June), Mike Love (June), Diana Moroz (July), Ann Smith (August). May they rest in peace and rise in glory.
