Christ Church took part in the town’s festival of flowers by having its own flower festival. We had a beautiful service on Sunday 29th April with a full church and the Harp Group playing. One of their members had composed a special piece of music to celebrate Jamie Hill’s 70th birthday. The Rector also presented him with a Peace Rose as a birthday present from the congregation.
Our Easter Service was very well attended and was an uplifting service for all. The church looked particularly beautiful thanks to Jane, our Flower Lady, and her helpers. The ‘All Age Family Service’ for Mothering Sunday was taken by the children today. A good night was had by one and all at our pancake party. The chefs did a magnificent job churning out hundreds of pancakes and there was a huge selection of tasty fillings. On Sunday 21 January Emily Alice Stewart, daughter of Tracey and Kevin was baptised by Drew. Emily is the granddaughter of our Lay Reader, Richard and rose to the occasion by behaving impeccably. The flowers in Church were beautiful for the occasion.
On Sunday the church was packed for our Christingle Service. The children and musicians did brilliantly as we held a more traditional Nativity. Afterwards everyone enjoyed mulled wine, mince pies and shortbread in the church hall.
Trevor Lewis and the Rector led The Act of Remembrance at 11am in our church on Remembrance Sunday. Jane provided the beautiful floral tributes.
