When the new toilet was created at the back of the side chapel the new wall split the double window showing the annunciation into two with Gabriel stranded in the new toilet while Mary remained in the side chapel. The solution was to remove the Gabriel window and replace it with a new window and then place Gabriel in a specially constructed ‘Light box’ adjacent to Mary in the side chapel.
Bryan Hutchison, a stained glass expert, has made a magnificent job of doing this with the toilet window finished and the Gabriel window ready to be inserted in the light box.
